1. Casio G-Shock GM-B2100GD-9AER Watch – Bluetooth Enabled
This is the all metal version of the B2100 series G-shock watch with octagonal shaped dials. A stark contrast from the typically busy and chunky bezel of the plastic G-shock watches we are familiar with. Don’t get us wrong, the watch is still big with a 44.4mm diameter case that is 12.8mm thin. It has a black dial with batons for hour indices. The hour and minute arms are gold with glow in the dark luminescent treatment. The metal bracelet takes its design inspiration from dimpled band of the original 1983 model. Two things that make this watch stands out are Bluetooth Connectivity for syncing with a smartphone and Tough Solar, an onboard solar panel that uses any light source to charge the watch’s battery. In case you are wondering, the Bluetooth connectivity options is just for time keeping. There is no accelerometer or step counter on board.
2. Casio G-Shock B5000GD-9ER – Bluetooth & Radio Enabled
Another full metal gold watch from the G-shock series, this time the B5000GD with a Multi Band 6 radio control for automatic atomic time updates overnight, on top of Bluetooth connectivity for when you land in a different time zone. It does however require that the watch pairs with a smartphone and the Casio app installed.
On top of that, Tough Solar is also present here to keep the watch’s battery topped up and working for up to two years. As for the design, it is unmistakably drawing from the retro Casio watches, in particular the DW-5000 rectangular watch. The update of course is the negative display or light-on-dark LCD for better visibility. There is also an auto light function that is triggered when you tilt your wrist towards you.

The GM-S2100 in gold is available with or without the day dial at 9 o’clock. There are some other differences too like the lettering on the bevel to indicate the functions of the buttons, digital layout but the most obvious of them are the size and weight.
Personally, I like the second, bigger one with the day dial better as it looks busier and having the function label for the buttons help. However, this will set you back a bit more. Standard features for the analogue-digital G-shock watches include 12/24 hour format, calendar, stop watch, countdown timer, wold time, alarm and light.
Both watches benefits from patented Hollow Core Guard Structure to protect itself against impact and vibration.

Like the GM-S2100G above, this next entry has a tough resin band in black too. The Casio G-Shock GM-5600G-9ER’s claim to fame is how slim it is for a G-Shock watch. This fully digital watch face measures 35mm x 44mm while the case is only 13mm thin. You get the gold case but the digital dial face is black which goes really well with the black 24mm plastic band. Finally, we have the AWM-500GD-9AER, an all metal analogue and digital entry drawing from the G-shock heritage. It is the reason why it looks a bit out of date. We like to thing that it is a retro time piece making a come back. The watch is based on AW-500, the first G-Shock with analogue and digital combination to be released in 1989. Underneath the beast is Multiband 6 for automatic time keeping over radio and Tough Solar to keep the battery topped up.
